[news] Nina with Her Pet Polar Bear-Nina Whaley; Former Miss Alaska and Now Stewardess for Wien Alaska Airlines, is Shown at Age 9 Mushing of All Things a Polar Bear at Kotzebue. the Bear Name "Pola" Was About 3 Month Old at the Time and Was Quite a Hit with Tourists. the Fish and Wildlife Service Frowned on the Keeping of Polar Bears in Captivity by Individuals and Nina Whaley's Cub Was One of the Last Kept as a Pet in Arctic Alaska. Last March, April and May, Nina Made News When She Became a Hunter of Bears. in Each of Those Months Respectively, She Bagged a Polar Bear, Grizzly Bear, and Black Bear. an Article Entitled "Nina and the Three Bears" Describing Her Exploits Has Been Printed Widely in Travel Publications.
