[news lead] Looking Back: Margaret (Nee Evans) Carlson Sends School Photographs from Eklutna, the Bureau of Indian Affairs Boarding School. The School Was Closed at the Beginning of World War II and the Grounds Were Used by the U.S. Army. Later the Buildings Were Dismantled and Shipped to Seward for the Jesse Lee Home. (L-R) Stephanita Tarkanoff, Irene Frost, Beatrice Lee, Helen Egeroff, Margaret Evans, Jessie Luke, Martha Carlo, Ruth Thompson, Flossie Evans and Marina Halverson Pose with an Unidentified Teacher's Child. Mrs. Carlson's Grandparents Had 11 Children and She Writes She 'Has Umpteen First Cousins.' She Visited with JDr. and Mrs. Hugh Fate in Fairbanks This Month and Presently Resides in Tacoma. Readers Are Welcome to Tell the Tundra Times the Whereabouts of the Classmates Pictured. Below (L-R) Are Irving Ungudruk, Walter Dyakanoff, Emery Hunter, Peter Nekiferoff, Henry Panigeo, Herb Hope,Thomas Richards, Charlie Evans and Fred Woods with the Teacher's Child.
