[news lead] The Chicago Symphony Orchestra-The 103 Member Chicago Symphony Orchestra Wil Perform Tonight at 8:15 P.M. in the Lathrop High School's Hering Auditorium. It Will Also Perform Tomorrow Night at the Same Time. The Symphony Will Have the Distinction of Being Only the Second Major American Orchestra to Visit Alaska. The Orchestra Arrived in Anchorage Last Saturday and Gave a Performance That Day and Again on Sunday. Its Appearance Marks the First Time That a Major Orchestra Has Given More than a Sincle Performance in the State. the Symphony is under the Direction of Its Music Director, Jean Martinon. He Was Born in Lyons, France on 1910. Along with His Talent for Orchestral Conducting, Martinon is Also Known as a Noted Composer. His Associate Conductor is Erwin Hoffman, Former Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra of British Columbis. The Chicago Symphony Orchestra Has Also the Distinction of Having Been Described as the "Best" Orchestra by the Famous Composer, Igor Stravinsky.
