[news] Muktuk Eating Contest - Two Young Eskimo Girls Are Eating up a Storm during the Fourth of July Festivities at Kotzebue When They Participated in a Muktuk Easting Contest for the Boys and Girls. Muktuk is the Outer Skin of the Bowhead Whale Considered by the Eskimos as a Delicacy. In the Adult Contest, York Wilson and Franky Lazarus Were Seen Eating Muktuk Leasurely. A Spectator Said of Them, "Those Two Guys Are in There Just to Eat Muktuk."
[news] Schools Days Are Coming, Seattle-The First Two of 24 Schoolroom Units Alaska Steamship Company is Moving North for the Greater Anchorage Borough School District Are Being Loaded Aborad the Vanship Nadina. One Unit Has Already Been Set Aboard. They Were Taken to the Port of Whittier and Unladed on August 1. Constructed by Telestar Manufacturing Company, Boise, Idaho for Penny Trailer Sales, the Law Bidder on the Project, Each Classroom Was Divided into Two Separate 14 by 40 Foot Units Which Were Equipped with Wheels for Highway Transportation to Seattle. The Alaska Railroad Took Them to Anchorage from Whittier.
