[news] Great Citizen-Frank Degnan of Unalakleet, Sargeant at Arms of the Alaska Federation of Natives, Inc., is One of the People Who Originally Met at Barrow in November of 1961 and Helped Pave the Way for the Northern Alaska Native Movement for the Settlement of the Land Claims. at the Same Meeting, Frank Was One of the Group of People Who Alerted the Barrow Eskimo Population "That They Were Sitting on the Resource They Could Also Use" the Natural Gas Which at the Time Was Used Only by Government Personnel and Installations. The Late Senator E.L. "Bob" Bartlett Took on the Work and Had a Law Passed That Enabled the Barrow Eskimos to Use the Natural Gas. The Picture of Frank Was Taken at the Recent Tundra Times Banquet in Anchorage Showing His Ever Present Comical Bent That Amused Many a Native Audience through the Years.
