[news] Ten Years Ago, Amos Wallace, a Native of Southeast Alaska, Carved This Totem Pole Now Standing on the University of Alaska, Carved This Totem Pole Now Standing on the University of Alaska, Fairbanks Campus. Standing 49 Feet High, it Signifies the 49th State of Alaska. The Story on the Pole is an Indian Legend That Tells How ;the Mosquito Originated from the Ashes of a Monster Destroyed by Fire. Wallace Returned to Fairbanks to "Sign" the Pole in Connection with the Recent Alaska Festival of Native Arts.
